The Trots Ceramics Studio is a family business. We have been making Hutsul’s ceramics since 1997. As part of the traditional technique, we experiment with shapes and patterns, create exclusive products, which will never be made again.
We are enthusiasts who found their craft and want to show what a unique ceramic technology has been preserved in our country.
We have been working in the sgraffito technique (Hutsul ceramics) for more than 20 years, and with every passing year, we don’t get bored but feel even more involved in this art. Sometimes we shift away from traditional Hutsul ceramics and practice new shapes and patterns – the history of sgraffito inspires experimentation. Moreover, the history of sgraffito gives us confidence that our products will pass through generations.
Meanwhile, this same technique taught us many things. It takes at least one month to make one item – it is neither allowed nor possible to hurry. We have learned to love this process, immerse ourselves in it. Our perception and philosophy of slow living appeared from this steady pace. Ceramics has given us a clear sense of our aesthetics and style, taught us to be patient and find beauty at every stage of work. Ceramics has encouraged us to be brave and believe in ourselves – that is why we are not afraid of trying something large-scaled, new and crazy.
