They are legends whose names are erased by water from the rocks.
Proud and strong, they are the children of mountain’ forests. They appear out of nowhere and dissolve in smoke between strong pine crowns. Free as the wind, quick and unpredictable. They jump with fire to the sky in their anger. Spread healing energy in peace. The clatter of their hooves, the whisper of their wings, their voice and movements create a rhythm. They are protection, a mythical and invisible wall. They are memory and knowledge.
“Guardians” – the first characters in the series “Mythical creatures”. Those real-fictional spirits watch you in the middle of the Carpathian forest. They make you turn and look around in the middle of blackberry bushes. They are legends. Maybe they exist only in our imagination – or perhaps it is our faith that helps them live. When everything around you freezes in scary silence – they are close.
Fair, honest, wise – they are in the middle between good and evil; they are something else. Guardians of our traditions, they dance by the old rhythms in the quietest corners of the forest. Their lands are taken away, their names are erased from the rocks, and the paths are flooded with mud – not for the first time, not for the last time. They are eternal. Reborn and alive, protected and observed, they have long been rooted in these lands securely and deeply. In our memories and dreams, they live in streams and rumours, in the stories of our ancestors, in the night whispers of frightened hearts.
They are scary, even sinister. The guardians are not allowed to be good heroes. They can feel sorry, let you go – but do not forgive.
The guardians are not afraid to be forgotten – they will always remind of themselves.
